Electric Motor - 1/2 hp, 1,400rpm, 5/8 inch shaft

1/2 hp, 1,400rpm, imperial, single phase motor with 5/8 inch shaft, duty rated for years of continuous use. This motor is ideal for most workshop machines including grinders, saws, tumblers, polishers etc.

Most of us use those old 1/4 hp washing machine motors. When I first started, you could get these for $10 from garage sales and then TradeMe. Then the price went up and now you can't get them for less than $100. Years went by and these motors got old and worn and I had to keep 6 spare motors on my shed and was replacing motors on a regular basis. I was spending more time changing motors and adapting mounts than I was cutting stone and it was time to find a supplier for new motors and I'm gradually changing over my workshop as those old washing machine motors die out.

Motor shown includes a 2.5 inch pulley, but price does not include pulley. Please inquire with what size pulley you want the motor to come with and I will supply a price. Motor does not include a plug so you can choose to hard-wire it or put a cord on. Picture shows a plastic plug where the wire goes in and 2 screws to access the wiring points. Wiring is best done by an electrician.

My supplier can supply 1/4 hp, but the price is about the same and the 1/2 hp are apparently a lot more reliable. Larger sizes are also available. Please inquire.
