Customer had a lovely bracelet with purple dyed selenite and she wanted real amethyst. Selenite is a very soft stone and scratches easily. With this exposed setting, 4 of the selenite had broken off and the remaining ones were 4 were dull and scratched. I showed her a bag of beautiful, natural amethyst and she loved them. Amethyst is her birth stone. I cut a series of stones, removed the selenite and set the amethyst.
The customer was very happy. What do you think? Do you have a favourite piece of jewellery that needs a freshen-up with new stones?
